Blackbird Rain

Raised in California and perfected in Texas, JB Rain has been a musician since he was a young child. He has played bass in Fracas from Oakland, CA, guitar and drums in Voodoo Velkro out of Atlanta, GA, and is currently debuting his vocal abilities in Blackbird Rain. His musical influences include artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Maynard James Keenan, Mike Patton, Genesis, Gary Debussy, and a wide eclectic mix of other artists and bands.

A native to Galveston County, Texas, and original founding member of Blackbird Rain in 2022, Rick Skillman has been a musician in many projects around the Houston area such as Overdrive and Midnight Moses. His hard rock blues style can be attributed to influences that include Edward Van Halen, Slash, Jake E. Lee, Joe Bonamassa and many more. 

From Texas City, Texas, Erick Villarreal has played the bass, piano, and guitar for decades in his home church Crosspointe, in the band Councel which he co-founded, and currently in the bands Split Grin and Blackbird Rain. His influences include the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Mozart, and Beethoven.

A recent transplant to Texas, Brynin “The Kid” Brown originates from Fresno, CA where he was the drummer for the metal core band Valkyrie Missile. As multi-instrumentalist and a producer, his influences include Underoath, TOOL, Lamb of God, and The Mars Volta and many more. Brynin is the son of Blackbird Rain vocalist JB Rain.
